First Lutheran is currently engaged in the process of becoming a Reconciling in Christ congregation.

The purpose of the Reconciling in Christ (RIC) Program, overseen by ReconcilingWorks is to ensure the welcome, inclusion, celebration, and advocacy for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions; work for racial equity and commit to anti-racist work and support the national program. For more information about what it means to become a Reconciling in Christ congregation, click here.

In 2019, the congregation took the first step toward becoming an RIC church with the adoption of our Welcoming Statement:

Welcoming in God’s Grace calls us to see God in all people and to open our hearts to them. As a reflection of God’s gracious love, First Lutheran Church welcomes ALL of God’s people with no exceptions! Our faith community invites and welcomes you—regardless of race, national origin, sexual orientation, gender/identity, disability, or economic status—for worship, fellowship, and partnership in ministry.

This next stage of our journey begins with a time of listening, specifically One to One meetings between members of our Core Team and members of the congregation. We see this as a great opportunity for all of us to create relationships, to discuss our values and our callings, and to intentionally discern, with the help of Christ, who we are, now, as a congregation in this new thing that God is doing.

If you would like to schedule a One to One meeting with a member of the Core Team and have not already been approached, please contact Amy Isler.
