Rehearsal will be on Saturday, October 28th. Dinner for candidates and their families will be at 6:00pm at Chef Paolino in Catonsville, with a rehearsal at First to follow. During dinner, candidates will have a chance to share their ministry projects.

Below is a form that must be filled out for each candidate to ensure their name is printed correctly for their certificate, sufficient space is reserved for your party, and an RSVP for the dinner and rehearsal.

Affirmation of Baptism (formerly known as Confirmation) is a two-year faith-forming journey for anyone in the 6th grade or higher, their parents/ guardians, and mentors and facilitators who accompany them on this journey.

Affirmation of Baptism classes are held on Sundays at 11:00am in the Education Building.

Previously, there were two concurrent classes, Year One (Bible) and Year Two (Catechism). We have shifted to teaching one class a year with Bible and Catechism being offered on a rotating basis. You can begin your two year process with which ever class is being offered the year you begin. The Bible class is being offered this year.

In addition to classes, AOB students participate in a mentorship program, regular volunteering, and complete a ministry project before their confirmation.

Those interested in participating should review the AOB overview, then complete and submit the AOB registration forms to Alyssa Terry.

Mentorship Program

Beginning this year (2023), AOB students in their second year of classes will also participate in the Mentor Program in preparation for their Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation) next fall.

The goal of the mentorship program is to build intergenerational relationships in our congregation, and provide our confirmation students with intentional support and guidance in their final year of confirmation.

If you’re interested in being a mentor, please email Alyssa Terry.

Volunteer Opportunities

AOB candidates are encouraged to volunteer at Church events throughout the year. Volunteering within our community allows the youth to become active in different areas of ministry and help aids them in discerning how they can best use their gifts to meet the needs of their community.

This fall, a list of volunteer opportunities will be listed here. Sign up to volunteer with Alyssa.
