The Christian Education Committee meets on the first Thursday of the month at 6:45 p.m.

Sunday School

Sunday Church School is offered during the school year from September - May for children ages 3 years through adults. Classes meet on Sunday mornings from 9:15 a.m.- 10:15 a.m. To sign up your child, complete this Registration Form and return it to Lauren Gray.

Staffed by energetic volunteers, our Sunday school reaches children through games, drama, crafts, and storytelling. Children in the elementary grades begin to learn about using their Bibles as a resource. Visitors are welcome!

The Toddler Nursery, located downstairs next to the social hall, is vibrantly decorated with a mural of friendly animals including panda bears, flamingos, and tigers. The nursery is fully staffed during the summer months for the 10:30 a.m. service, and from September-May during Sunday school and the 10:30 a.m. service.

Holy Communion Instruction- Admission to the Sacrament is by invitation of the Lord, presented through the Church to those who are baptized. Families may decide at what age each of their children will participate fully in the sacrament by receiving bread and wine or grape juice. Age-appropriate educational materials are available from any member of the church staff.

We make bread during our Holy Communion Instruction.

Confirmation is the beginning of a life long process of learning and commitment to Christian service in the world. Affirming our baptismal vows is one of the most important days of our lives. Confirmation provides a framework for each of us to better understand ourselves as children of God; baptized, filled with the Holy Spirit, fed at God's table, and sent into the world to serve God by serving others.

At First Lutheran, confirmation classes are for children in sixth, seventh and eighth grades. The three year program consists of classes on Sunday mornings, retreats, and small group discussions. Requirements include serving within the church and community.

Contact Pastor Gigie Sijera-Grant at for more information about confirmaton.

Parent participation is required in our confirmation program. Parents may volunteer to be group leaders, banquet coordinators, retreat chaperones, reception coordinators, and more! Sign up to volunteer at the parent/student orientation.

Adult Education

Sunday morning classes run throughout the year. Classes for adults are led by one of the Pastors or lay leaders. They take place in the social hall or library, and are held from 9:15 a.m.- 10:15 a.m.on Sunday mornings. Child care is provided for children 3 years and younger. Older children may attend Sunday school at this time.
