Christian Education

Confirmation

Confirmation is the beginning of a life long process of learning and commitment to Christian service in the world. Affirming our baptismal vows is one of the most important days of our lives. Confirmation provides a framework for each of us to better understand ourselves as children of God; baptized, filled with the Holy Spirit, fed at God's table, and sent into the world to serve God by serving others.

At First Lutheran, confirmation classes are for children in seventh and eighth grades. The two year program consists of evening classes, retreats, and small group discussions. Requirements include serving within the church community and attending church and Sunday school. We use the Here We Stand curriculum from Augsburg Fortress publishing. You may look up samples of the curriculum at www.herewestandconfirmation.org.

Parent participation is required in our confirmation program. Parents may volunteer to be Table Guides (small group leaders), banquet coordinators, retreat chaperones, reception coordinators, and more! Sign up to volunteer at the parent/student orientation.
